Celebrating its 140th anniversary, Dentaurum looks back with pride on numerous products that have successfully established themselves in the market for decades and continue to win over users worldwide. In this anniversary year, the company is celebrating a very special chapter in recent dental history - including 20 years of tomas®. Two decades ago, the tomas® (temporary orthodontic micro anchorage system) mini implants were introduced as a skeletal anchorage system for orthodontic treatment. Since then, their versatility, reliability, successful further developments, and broad range of indications have established them as an integral part of state-of-the-art orthodontic treatment concepts, and are highly trusted worldwide.
tomas® novelties in the anniversary year
New tomas® pin lengths: 12 and 14 mm
To mark this anniversary, the tomas® family will continue to expand in 2026: The tomas®-pin SD and EP assortment will be expanded to include pin lengths of 12 and 14 mm. By doing so, tomas® opens up additional therapeutic opportunities.
The new, longer pins provide even greater primary stability owing to their greater insertion depth and the option of bicortical anchorage. This provides for additional stability during treatment and creates optimal conditions for attached appliances and coupling elements to function reliably and precisely.
New: tomas® goes digital
With the new scanbody for tomas®, the portfolio is being consistently extended to include a digital solution. This enables easy intraoral digital capture of the SD and EP tomas®-pins, and thus supports a seamless digital workflow.
Along with numerous other Dentaurum products, the scanbody for the tomas® system is available as a free STL download on the Dentaurum home page and can be 3D-printed on a case-by-case basis both in the dental office and in the dental laboratory. The recorded scan data can then be imported directly into the planning software and serve as the basis for the digital construction and fabrication of the planned orthodontic appliances.
High quality standards
The tomas® system is not only distinguished by high manufacturing quality standards, but above all by its practice-oriented development and the meticulous composition of its product portfolio. With the aid of the tomas®-RPE eyelet, skeletally anchored RPE appliances can be created according to the Pin-Last© approach. This makes it possible to place the RPE appliance and the mini implants in a single appointment. Hereby, the tomas®-RPE eyelet can be optimally combined as a coupling element between the tomas®-pin and the hyrax® expansion screws.
