In the metropole of Istanbul, Dentaurum brought the orthodontic world together
for a third time

Some 100 orthodontists from 30 countries enjoyed the "International Orthodontic Workshop", an unforgettable scientific training program organized by Dentaurum for the third time, from October 20 to 21, 2023. They also had the opportunity to meet personally with top-class speakers.
There were impassioned discussions on various approaches to orthodontic work, alongside talks on current topics such as skeletal anchorage with tomas®, technologies for permanent retention and orthodontic appliances printed in 3D. The knowledge participants gained and new contacts they made will serve them well in their day-to-day work.
One of the highlights was the possibility for participants to place a tomas®-pin in a typodont during Dr. Sebastian Baumgaertel's hands-on workshop. They can now put into practice the expert knowledge and the tips and tricks they learned from him. Dr. Baumgaertel is a Clinical Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, USA and director of the clinic for skeletal anchorage. He is an instructor in orthodontic biomechanics and works in his own private practice in Cleveland.
Prof. Dr. Michael Wolf from the University of Aachen showed and explained in detail the regulatory processes during orthodontic tooth movement. Participants also learned more on permanent retention and the innovative technology used for this treatment.
Prof. Dr. Nezar Watted dedicated his talks to the subject of aesthetics in orthodontics. He is renowned in the field of orthodontic aesthetics and is well-known for his approach in the orthodontic treatment of periodontally damaged dentition and in functional orthodontics. He is also a private lecturer at the university clinic and polyclinic for dental, oral and maxillofacial pathology at the Bavarian Julius-Maximilians-University in Wuerzburg, Germany.
Dr. Simon Graf, an orthodontist from Belp in Switzerland, talked about 3D printing of orthodontic appliances. Participants learned about digital technologies which make day-to-day operation in the practice more effective and simplify, improve and accelerate existing treatment methods. He has enjoyed much success in virtual design and direct 3D printing. He has also been a sought-after international speaker since 2016 and has held talks at congresses in more than 30 countries.
Dr. Trevor Hodge accompanied the workshop for fixed and removable orthodontic appliances. He is a Consultant Orthodontist at the Dental Institute in Leeds, Great Britain and was appointed Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Leeds due to his success in clinical and applied research, dental public health and health services research.
The mixture of lectures and hands-on workshops which ran in two parallel groups allowed participants to discuss new insights with one another and to implement newly learned techniques.
The 5-star hotel "Wyndham Grand Istanbul Europe" provided the perfect setting for the event. On Friday evening, participants, speakers and Dentaurum staff relaxed on an "Oriental Dinner Cruise" with fascinating views of the Bosporus and had time to reflect on the event's first day.
