The SUS² (Sabbagh Universal Spring) is an intermaxillary fixed telescope appliance with integrated spring.

The Concept of the progressive bite jumping® , the universal size of the SUS², the easy handling und the quick activation enable an effective orthodontic treatment especially for patients with:

  • Poor compliance
  • Mandibular Retrognathie
  • Non-surgical bite jumping in adults
  • Unilateral Cl II
  • Aplasia 35/45
  • pTMJ dysfunction / sleep anea

Even in adults the SUS² can help to avoid head gear use, extractions, or surgical bite correction.

Finally, clinicians should follow a finishing checklist to ensure that static and dynamic occlusion and smile meets pre-determined goals and patient satisfaction.

Orthodontic mini-implants: State-of-the-Art

Orthodontic mini-implants have become an important part of modern orthodontics. In this lecture, Dr. Baumgaertel will teach the concept he developed and refined over the years, and which, due to its great success rates, has become one of the most widely used approaches to orthodontic mini-implant use, worldwide. Amongst others you will learn:

  • reasons for mini-implant success and failure
  • best insertion sites for maximum success
  • an atraumatic insertion technique
  • simple but intelligent biomechanics

The lecture will culminate in practical implementation of the learned subject matter in clinically realistic hands-on exercises taught by Dr. Baumgaertel on anatomically correct typodonts, including the placement of multiple tomas Pins and installation of the biomechanics to treat four clinically relevant indications.

Distalization has always been one of the preferred methods for relieving crowding and establishing Class I relation without extractions. Conventional distalizers (non-screw supported) have their pitfalls, mainly loss of anchorage. After a while, screw supported distalizers were adopted by clinicians to push molars back into Class I occlusion. Here then comes the double task to stabilize the distalized molar till all front teeth are pulled back. If one can achieve full dentition distalization in one step, this will save time and there won’t be any worries of anchorage loss during anterior retraction. Full arch distalization will be presented using tomas®-pins illustrated with CBCTs to elaborate the technique.

Dr. Sebastian Baumgaertel
Cleveland, OH, USA

Dr. Baumgaertel has lectured worldwide on various orthodontic topics including orthodontic mini-implants and cone beam computed tomography. He has published multiple scientific articles and acts as a reviewer for a number of high-profile journals (e. g. American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics). Additionally, he is author and co-editor of two textbooks.

Dr. Baumgaertel is a Clinical Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, where he serves as Director of the subspecialty clinic for skeletal anchorage and instructor of the orthodontic biomechanics course. Dr. Baumgaertel also maintains an active private practice in the Cleveland, OH area. In addition, he is a Visiting Professor at the University of Melbourne, Australia.

Dr. Fady Hussein Fahim
Cairo, Egypt

Dr. Fady received his dental degree from Cairo University in 1998.

Since he was top of his class, he became a resident in the Orthodontic department, Cairo University in 2000 where he started his master degree in Orthodontics.

In 2008, he was granted membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh UK.

In 2011, he completed his PhD degree in Orthodontics.

In 2013, he received a fellowship in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

He is currently lecturer at Orthodontic Department Cairo University. Also, he runs his own private practice in Cairo (Perla Dental Clinic).

Dr. Fady lectured in front of the American Association of Orthodontists annual meeting (AAO), European Orthodontic Society annual meeting (EOS) and AEEDC in Dubai.

Since 2005, he has specialised in cleft lip and palate, skeletal anchorage system and orthognathic surgery.

Event conditions

Alteration / cancellation:

Should Dentaurum deem it necessary to cancel an event, participants will be informed at the latest 14 days before the date of the event. In this case Dentaurum will reimburse the participation fee if it has already been paid. However, the company is not liable for the reimbursement of further costs that may have been incurred, such as travel and hotel costs.

Dentaurum is not obliged to offer participants an alternative date for the event.

The participants shall receive reimbursement of the participation fee if Dentaurum receives notification that the participant cannot attend at the latest 30 days before the event. Should the afore-said notification arrives less than 30 days before the date of an event, the participant may name replacement participant. In this case, however, it is not possible to claim reimbursement of the participation fee. If the participant is not granted a VISA and can therefore not attend an event, Dentaurum reserves the right to charge a handling fee of EUR 200,00 for each reservation.

In general the event organizers shall only be liable for the participants in case of gross negligence or willful misconduct in their performance of their obligations under the event agreement.
