Review: tomas® TAD Events 2016
Successful series of international events on skeletal anchorage
"Dentaurum Quality – Worldwide Unique": five Dentaurum tomas® TAD (Temporary Anchorage Device) events took place under this motto in 2016. Around the world, orthodontists were able to learn about the diverse application options for skeletal anchorage using the Dentaurum tomas®-pin.
Around the world
Dr. Sebastian Baumgärtel, an experienced lecturer and orthodontist from Cleveland, Ohio (USA), welcomed some 200 guests from more than 15 countries. The events took place around the world in Phoenix and Boca Raton (both USA), Toronto (Canada), Abu Dhabi (UAE) and at the CDC, Centrum Dentale Communikation, at Dentaurum in Ispringen (Germany). A special highlight was the presentation by Prof. Dr. Moschos Papadopoulos from Aristotle University in Thessaloniki (Greece) of the amda® distalization appliance which Dentaurum launched recently. The participants were impressed by the fact that the appliance is easy to handle and that it can be ideally combined with the tomas® system.
Each event consisted of a theoretical and a practical part in order to demonstrate the latest developments in the field of mini-implants. In the hands-on part, participants were able to put into practice what they had previously learned. An evening meal rounded off each of the events, providing the opportunity for discussions.
An evaluation of the courses shows that the participants appreciated the combination of theory and practice, a fact that was reflected in the average feedback grade of 1.01 (on a scale of 1 = very good to 5 = unsatisfactory). Participants were impressed by the unique, diverse treatment possibilities offered by the Dentaurum tomas®-pin which cover a wide spectrum of indications. They also praised the practical relevance of the course.
Skeletal anchorage for beginners and experts
The tomas®-system has been one of the leading skeletal anchorage systems in orthodontics for many years. Customers value the system's easy handling and its reliability. With the introduction of the new tomas®-pin EP (Elastic Palatal) and a selection of accessories for direct and indirect coupling with the tomas® anchorage system, the range of indications was extended to include use in the palate.
The system takes all demands made on a modern system into consideration. Be it distalization, mesialization, intrusion, palatal expansion or indirect anchorage: the Dentaurum tomas® system has something to offer both the beginner and the expert in skeletal anchorage systems.
